Devotion 11/17/24. Give me water

 John 4:7  When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink? She became one of Jesus disciples

A little kindness goes a long way. Rebekah.

 Then the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water to drink from your jar.” 18 She said, “Drink, my lord.” And she quickly let down her jar upon her hand and gave him a drink. 19 When she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking.” 20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough and ran again to the well to draw water, and she drew for all his camels. 21 The man gazed at her in silence to learn whether the Lord had prospered his journey or not. Gen 24:17–21.

The two scriptures, John 4:7 and Genesis 24:17–21, are related by the theme of hospitality, kindness, and divine encounters through seemingly ordinary actions. Here's how they connect:

   Both passages highlight how God works through everyday human interactions to fulfill His purposes.

   • The Samaritan woman’s meeting with Jesus changes her life and leads her to bring others in her community to Him, revealing God's plan of salvation for all people, including Samaritans.
   • Rebekah’s kindness confirms God’s guidance in the servant’s search for a wife for Isaac, advancing His covenant promise to Abraham's family.

3. Kindness Reflects the Heart
   In both instances, the characters demonstrate a heart of compassion and service, which aligns with God's values.

   • Rebekah’s willingness to water the camels reflects her selfless and hardworking nature, qualities that make her a fitting matriarch for God's chosen family.
   • The Samaritan woman’s conversation with Jesus opens the door for her spiritual transformation, showing how even a simple act of engagement can lead to deeper faith and understanding.

4. Symbolism of Water

   • In Genesis 24, water symbolizes provision and God's guidance in the servant's journey.
